Partnership Residence Visas: A partner may be either legally married, or in a civil union, or in a de facto partnership (whether opposite or same sex). Your sponsor must be a holder of New Zealand permanent resident visa or citizen, and must meet other conditions to sponsor you. One of the key requirements for an application based on partnership is the parties must be in a genuine and stable partnership. Parent ResidenceVisas: There are three options for parents
Parent Retirement Category: The applicant under this category must have an adult child who is the holder of New Zealand permanent resident visa or citizen and lives in New Zealand (No sponsorship by your child is required); the applicant undertakes to invest at least NZ$1 million in New Zealand for four years; nominate NZ$0.5 million of settlement funds; demonstrate an annual income of at least NZ$60,000; has no dependent children. The applicant must show ownership of these funds and satisfy health and character requirements, among other requirements.
Tier one: Only four of the requirements are briefly stated here. The applicant must: (i) be sponsored by his/her child (and, if applicable that sponsor's partner) whose minimum gross income is NZ$65,000/year or a minimum combined sponsor's and partner's gross income of NZ$90,000/year; (ii) have a life time income of at least NZ$27,898/year or NZ$41,046/year (if partner's of the applicant is included in the application); (iii) invest in New Zealand NZ$500,000; (iv) has no dependent children.
Tier two: Only three of the requirements are stated briefly here. The applicant must: (i) be sponsored by his/her child (and, if applicable that sponsor's partner) whose minimum individual gross income is NZ$33,675/year; (ii) must not have dependent children; (iii) all of the applicants' adult children must live lawfully and permanently outside the country in which the applicant or applicants live lawfully and permanently.
